THE MADISON AMERICAN LEGION POST 157

Who we are:  Members of the American Legion Family (American Legion, Sons of American Legion, or American Legion Auxiliary) who are also motorcycle enthusiasts. 

What we do:  We can be found participating in parades, partaking in motorcycle events, and supporting the communities in which they live, work, and play. The ALR is a family oriented group.   

What the ALR is not  The American Legion Riders is not a Motorcycle Club (M/C). They do not practice M/C rules and regulations.  Who benefits from the ALR’s  WE ALL DO! The ALR is a very dedicated and enthusiastic part of The American Legion Family. When you support the ALR, you bring the enthusiasm and dedication which in turn creates growth at the Post, District, and Department levels of The American Legion.  

Why we ride:  Of course The Legion Riders are along for the fun of the ride. However, every time we ride we have Legion objective in mind. It is much more than just riding for the fun of it. We do have a lot of fun but we do a lot of good along the way.  What do we do each American Legion Rider Chapter manages its programs at the post and district level, where all of the best ideas are born in the American Legion “grass roots” tradition. 

Here are some examples of the programs and projects of the American Legion Riders:  

 Sponsoring or participating local charity events in support of The American Legion or the community.  

 Sponsoring or participation in events and “motorcycle runs” that raise money for such organizations as MESA, Madison Senior Center, Boy’s and Girl’s State, Wreaths Across America, and the Blue Ridge Chapter of the National MS Society.  

 Participation in local memorial ceremonies and community parades.  

 The American Legion Riders have become the generous supporters of the American Legacy Scholarship Fund. Through events such as the American Legacy Run, the Legion Riders have helped raise millions of dollars to fund scholarships for children of fallen heroes.  

 American Legion Riders formed a group called the Patriot Guard Riders that honors our heroes and protects the sanctity of military funerals and memorials.   The above list is only a very few examples of the many projects of The Legion Riders. Motorcyclists in general are very enthusiastic individuals.
