Madison Marksman Shooting Sports

Additional Information

Shooting Sports– For youth age 9 and up. Partnership between The Madison American Legion and The Madison County 4H.  Firearm Safety and developing marksmanship skills. Call the 4H Extension Office at 948-6881 for more information. 


Practice Every Monday 6:00 p.m. at the Madison American Legion Building.   


For safety reasons visitors are not allowed during practice without prior approval. 

2025 senior Essay contest: Honoring our heroes

Senior Essay Contest:

                     Honoring Our Heroes: The American Legion Essay Contest 

                                          1st Place: $500 and a certificate  

Task: Students will write a 600-800 word essay that focuses on the following themes: 

          ➢ Fostering Patriotism

          ➢ Appreciation of Military Service

          ➢ Encouraging Civic Responsibility 

          ➢ Preserving History 

Purpose: To encourage students to reflect on the core values of patriotism, the significance of military service, and the sacrifices made by service members to protect the freedoms we enjoy. Additionally, this competition serves 

as an opportunity to help students understand the historical context of the nation's military, the importance of civic duty, and the ongoing impact that veterans have in our community and throughout society. Additional information: American Legion will present a $500 check for the winning essay at the 2025 High School Awards Banquet.  MCHS Students submit essay to guidance.  Home Schoolers submit essay to the American Legion.  Deadline May 9, 2025.
